About Me

Hey there, I'm Beatrice, if this wasn't obvious! I'm , I have been living in Ireland for over 10 years, and my life's passion is all things IT. This website was one of my first big projects, and what this is is essentially a blog, along with a couple of other bits and bobs to expand on my web development knowledge. I don't plan on being a web developer - it's not that interesting - but I like having as many skills as possible, since you never know when somebody will ask me to implement dark mode onto their website! So, hence my blogposts updating you on what I'm up to (updated rarely), and some random bits and bobs like a BMI calculator (because why not?) and a dark mode toggle (because we don't exactly like light these days) :D

While I am interested in so many things, right now my main focus is on competitive programming (abbreviated as CP for my own convenience). I have competed in AIPO several times, and have got through to EGOI 2024 and 2025. No medals won for me, but these experiences were the best experiences of my career! It's not every day I get to represent my country - twice - so I was honoured to be one person in a team representing Ireland. Now, I will be working very hard until EGOI 2026 (held in May), in hopes that I win a bronze medal, and hopefully I perform strong enough in AIPO 2026 to compete in IOI and WEOI! It's much harder to get through to these, so of course, I would be absolutely honoured to even be 4th place overall to get that IOI placement (got 5th in 2025, so maybe it's possible :D).

Other than CP, I am interesting in plenty of IT things. Although two of these take my fancy: data science/machine learning, and cybersecurity. Data science and machine learning because the people who know this are high-demand, and it's pretty fascinating; people have managed to train massive LLMs just by using math, programming, and data collection - which is something I would absolutely love to learn about and maybe even do it as a career. Cybersecurity because my father works in it, and I always found networking interesting to learn about. I honestly find how computers are protected, and how I can protect them, very interesting, as well as how to bypass these things, but in a very ethical way! I also would love to learn (ethical) hacking, and maybe do some bug fixing within various operating systems to earn a little money ;)

Now, let's get onto the big question; why IT? Well, I got inspired by my father. He was interested in IT for ages, since he was a child, so he kept that interest going by doing simple things like disassembling things in his house. Since then, he's pretty much a know-it-all when it comes to this kind of stuff. He also managed to make interesting projects, so that led me to think; I could be like him too! Now, ever since that single thought, I've been trying many things: coding in Python, working on projects with Arduino, and getting familiar with HTML/CSS. I bet that last one came as a huge surprise, huh? Some of my physical projects that I already created are a night-light, CNC plotter (writing machine) and an air quality monitoring device. Feel free to check out my home page for more details! But yeah, thanks to him, I've managed to progress to my current level!
