About Me
As you can probably tell, my name is Beatrice. I am , and I have been living in Ireland for the past 10 years, and my passion for basically my whole life is technology. I'll pretty much be doing a progress report on my website, to tell you how I'm getting on with programming, building this website, and other things I've started learning, doing, etc. In short, it's pretty much a blog-type thing. Along with that, once I'm TOO good at coding, I might post some competitive programming-related content to help you learn some, and participate in national or even international competitive programming olympiads!
Let's get onto general things I've done and little skills I've picked up. Competitive programming competitions are something I really enjoy, since they're challenging, and give me something new to do. I have participated in the All-Ireland Programming Olympiad (AIPO) in 2023 and 2024. 2023 wasn't as good, but I was lucky to be one of two girls in the finals! But 2024? I got into the finals, this time being one of three girls, and then I got through to the on-site finals (IrlCPC). Did I win a medal? Unfortunately, no. But, I got into the Irish EGOI team for 2024, which is by far the biggest achievement I ever got in my programming 'career'.
So, I can proudly say that I have participated in two national competitions: AIPO and IrlCPC (Ireland Collegiate Programming Competition); and one international competition: EGOI 2024. Unfortunately I haven't participated in IOI yet, but I will be working hard non-stop until I win at least Bronze at an international OI. Along with this, I started to think about my career as a whole, considering college is coming quick. So far, I've mastered most of Python and C++, but I also want to learn JavaScript more, and learn C, SQL, Java, Swift, and bash scripting from scratch. It's quite a handful, but honestly, if I could learn all of these, it could be pretty easy to find a job in different sectors! College course-wise, I'm hoping to study Data Science and Analytics, and I'll go hopefully all the way up to PhD-level - since AI has always amazed me, and I really want to pursue a career training and making these models - and maybe even cooler stuff!
Now, let's get onto the big question; why IT? Well, I got inspired from my father. He was interested in IT for ages, since he was a child, so he kept that interest going by doing simple things like disassembling things in his house. Since then, he's pretty much a know-it-all when it comes to this kind of stuff. He also managed to make interesting projects, so that led me to think; I could be like him too! Now, ever since that single thought, I've been trying many things: coding in Python, working on projects with Arduino, and getting familiar with HTML/CSS. I bet that last one came as a huge surprise, huh? Some of my physical projects that I already created are a night-light, CNC plotter (writing machine) and an air quality monitoring device.
